How Voice of Afrikka collects, uses and protects your information, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Voice of Afrikka LLC, a US limited liability company, runs live online African language classes, a culture hub, media programming and mediation services at www.voiceofafrikka.com. We decide how the information you give us is used, which makes us the "controller" of it under data protection law.

Contact us about privacy: info@voiceofafrikka.com, or by post to Voice of Afrikka, 9134 Piscataway Rd #1589, Clinton, MD 20735, United States.

Last updated: October 1, 2026

2. What information we collect

We collect only what you give us through our forms, plus a small amount of technical information needed to run the website.

WhereWhat we collect
Class registration formYour name, phone number and email; registration type (individual, family or organisation); organisation name; number of learners; each learner's name, age group, language and chosen class; how you heard about us; your guardian consent, terms agreement and newsletter choice
PaymentsHandled by Stripe: you type your card details into Stripe's secure form, either on Stripe's own page or shown inside ours. We receive confirmation that you paid, the amount, your email, the number of learners, and whether each monthly payment succeeded, failed or was cancelled; we keep this with your enrollment. We never see or store your full card details
Mediation and contact formsYour name, contact details and anything you write in your message. Mediation forms may include sensitive family details (see below)
BookingsYour name, contact details and the time you book
Learner portal and live classesYour login details and class attendance, held by our class platform, LearnCube (voiceofafrikka.live-online-classes.com). Classes are not recorded
Website useA language preference cookie and the basic technical data every website receives, such as IP address and browser type, kept in server logs by our host
Play & Learn gamesNothing, unless you choose to sign up for our weekly word email (your email address). Game scores stay in your own browser

Please do not send us sensitive information (such as health, religious or immigration details) unless it is needed, for example for a mediation case you have asked us to handle.

Mediation cases. Mediation forms can include sensitive family information, such as details about a marriage, children, religious beliefs or an inheritance. We use it only to decide whether we can take your case and to handle it, share it only with the mediator(s) working on it, and keep it confidential. Under UK and EU law, information about religious beliefs and some family matters needs extra protection; we process it only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We ask for this consent with a tick box on the mediation form: “I agree that Voice of Afrikka may use the information in this form, including sensitive details, to assess and handle my case.”

3. Children's information

We teach children from age 5, but we only collect their details from a parent or legal guardian. Children should not fill in our forms themselves.

  • Under-18s can only be registered through a Family registration, and the parent or guardian must confirm their consent before the form can be sent.
  • For each child we ask only for their name, age group, language and class, which is what we need to place them in the right class.
  • We use children's information only to run their classes and contact their parent or guardian. We never use it for marketing and never sell or share it for advertising.
  • If classes are recorded in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first. Today, classes are not recorded, so we hold no video or audio of your child.
  • A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete their child's information at any time (see section 9).

If you believe a child has sent us information without a parent's consent, email info@voiceofafrikka.com and we will delete it.

4. How we use your information

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter or by emailing info@voiceofafrikka.com. Messages about classes you are enrolled in (schedules, cancellations, payments) are not marketing and will still be sent.

Play & Learn games. You can play our games without giving us any information; your scores stay in your own browser. If you sign up for the weekly word email from a game, we treat it like the newsletter: only with your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

8. Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies, and no advertising or tracking cookies.

CookiePurpose
frontend_langRemembers your language choice
session_idKeeps you signed in, and keeps forms secure, when you use an account

Because these cookies are needed for the site to work, we do not ask for consent to use them. If we add analytics or other cookies later, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first. Stripe sets its own cookies on its payment pages.

Price estimates in your currency. On the registration page, your browser fetches daily exchange rates from Exchange Rate API (exchangerate-api.com) so we can show an estimated price in your local currency. We guess your currency from your device's time zone, which never leaves your device, and we send no personal information to the rates service; like any website, it receives your IP address when the rates are fetched. Your browser stores the rates and any currency you choose, so it doesn't need to ask again.

9. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • see the information we hold about you or your child, and get a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your information;
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests;
  • send your information to you or another organisation in a common format;
  • withdraw consent you gave, such as for the newsletter or guardian consent. This doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To use these rights, email info@voiceofafrikka.com. We will reply within one month and may ask you to confirm your identity first. There is no charge.

10. Security and changes to this policy

We protect your information with encrypted (HTTPS) connections, password-protected accounts, and access limited to the people who need it. No system is completely secure, so if a breach puts your information at risk, we will tell you and the authorities where the law requires.

We may update this policy when our services change. We will post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date, and email registered families about important changes.
